Goodbye CurrentC
Though we never knew you at all – because you only did a soft launch
You had all of the drama of Kadarshians but none of the glamor
And those around you fought and little got shipped
Treasury and Payments folks crawled out of the woodwork
And they whispered into your brain
They told you what you wanted to hear and shut out Marketing and no one asked the customer
And they made you change your name – from MCX
And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never knowing who to cling to (hey, this stuff writes itself)
When apathy set in, funding ran out, folks left
And we would have liked to have known you
But consortiums and consensus never go together
Your focus burned out long before
Now your assets did as well
Sure loneliness was tough
Happened only because you forced all the merchants back from partnering or doing stuff themselves
Toughly worded NDA’s created a superstar
And pain was the price we all paid
Even when you launched or went on conference panels a million times
Oh, the press still hounded you
All the papers had to say
Was that no one used QR Codes
Goodbye CurrentC
From the middle aged man in the 22nd aisle
Who has dipped his card the third time to pay for his damn bananas
And would gladly steal them if he could, only to avoid using EMV..
